segregation

The New York civil rights struggle and Boston schools challenge the view of their being by showing the discrimination that is happening in the schools and the treatment they are getting to get hired. “ There were only 2 bathrooms for sixteen hundred kids” Adian Back.  They could not  flush the bathroom which led the school to smell bad and they had to wait until water came to flush the bathroom. The Harlem nine are nine mothers that stopped sending their children to school in protests of the segregation and unequal learning they are getting. The city didn’t care when the mothers took this action. “School officials often deflected the protests by casting latino and black students as lacking the right cultural values and behaviours for education thus requiring different sort of education to learn” Theoharris. The coded language they used is like neighborhood stability, law and order, property value from, and quality of education from being accused of racism and let the south take all the blame. I’m not surprised by this history because for me the problem has been all of the U.S. rather than just one part of the country and it doesn’t make sense for one part of the country to be the problem in this kind of situation so it wasn’t really surprising.
