The Minutemen Missiles in South Dakota how it affect the past and the future.

The Minutemen Missiles in South Dakota did show an example of what it might look like in a cold war from a Midwest perspective and how we humans back then experienced the kind of power that we have to protect our country.  Dwight Eisenhower called the military-industrial complex because so many things were happening in the Midwest during the Cold War and how it was a good place to practice the missiles. I also believe that they had some conflict between the  Silo preserved national historical site with the National Park Service. How does each organization want to do what is best to preserve the location of Minutemen  Missiles in South Dakota> How does it evolve into our current state and time? How do we as people think about this topic in today’s world? How do you think Dwight Eisenhower deal with the call for military-industrial in that time period?  Also, from the article that I read National Park Service trying to stop the Minutemen missile from coming to the Park and ruining the park. While the National Historic Sites were trying to keep the historic site from getting damaged so how did they come together and create a balance between them?  I think that Silo wants to preserve the national historic site with the National Park Service so that he can keep the history alive and make sure that people can learn from our past and understand it and ask questions so we can learn something new.  I had a good time reading the article and understanding the topic and how the Minutemen Missile evolved into the 2000s and affected the way we furthermore understand history and how it changed with us. I also thought it was a good article to read and understand the problems and  how they are used to fix the solution of the problem. It was also cold learning about the stuff that happen with Silo in the 2003 the year I was born and how it affect the year and how it change the way we think and understand certain topic that deal with Cold War in the Midwest. The picture that I saw showed the visual understand what happen so that we can prepare for the future so that we can learn form our past so that history can not repeat itself. Also want to thank the article and how it he or she use her words and pictures to capure the topic so that reader can understand the topic so that they can ask question about it.I also Like that they pictures and numbers on the graph showed what happen since I am some what a visual learner and how the image can tell a story just base on the image. At first I didn’t know that Military equipement or missilse were in South Dakota and how It was a bigger thing for people back then with the National Park service and National Historic Site trying to keep it form being destroyed or taking way form other business company that what to take that land to build on it even though it a important landmark.

  1. Very good insight! I also liked the presence of the graphs and pictures in the article. I never thought that South Dakota contributed to the cold war at all! and difinitely not in the sense of hosting missiles. I agree that the Silo is being preserved as a form of comemoration of history and educating people of the consequences of the cold war and how it was not just a fear rather it actually evolved to massive spendings in nuclear weapon’s research and the execution of the necessary plans to bring the vision into reality. While a war never happened, it emphasises that the U.S. was and is always ready to contain any danger and would do anything to preserve national security.
