Lavander Scare

The Lavander Scare was a fear among the United States people that there were homosexual people within our government. This is connected to the Red Scare during the Cold War because many people during the Red Scare were scared there were communists within our government and within the people of the United States. The connection between anticommunists and homophobia is that more liberal the person was more likely to pursue their own ends and people who were anticommunists showed more masculine features (Friedman). I think sexual innuendos are some what still used in politics because there are more people who are homosexual and don’t feel included or have the same views as a certain candidate. I think politics use those sexual innuendos to gain more popularity.

  1. Hi

    Thank for your blogpost!!!

There are several issues with your blog post. First and foremost, your blog post doesn’t refer to McCarthy at all and how he and his acquaintances, all based on rumors and suspicions were accused of being both homosexuals and communists. Your blogpost fails to follow the format, which was specified by Dr Will Wright. Furthermore, in the last few lines of your first and only paragraph, you failed to give an example of a recent event which could be related to the central topic of the blogpost. In summation, I’d say that you had the right ideas in mind while writing the blogpost, but you failed to comply with the guidelines specified by Dr Will Wright.
